About me
Hi there, my name is Maxime, but I’m better known around the internets as Sylfvr. I’ve been doing art for well over a decade, and music on and off for five years.
I like to describe my visual work as oneiric, dreamlike and foggy. I like blurry things, I like when contours are not clearly defined. I try my best to embody the feeling of something I might have seen in a dream, or in another life. Something that might have existed, at some point, that is in-between, liminal and maybe just a touch puzzling.
Some of my inspirations are rooted in symbolism, like works by Odilon Redon and Gustave Moreau.
Trees on a Yellow Background - Odilon Redon
Salome Dancing Before Herod – Gustave Moreau
Hercules and the Hydra of Lerna – Gustave Moreau
Phaeton - Gustave Moreau
The Cyclops - Odilon Redon
Evocation - Odilon Redon
Apparition - Odilon Redon
The Abduction of Ganymedes - Odilon Redon
Reflection - Odilon Redon
Also here are some contemporary artists whose work I adore, and would definitely recommend checking out:
Over the years, I’ve also had the immense privilege to provide cover art for several bands like Sylvaine, Lustre, Dead Horse One, Piah Matter and many more. I am not particularly active on that front, and do not advertise it at all, but I’m always open to license work, and can offer some custom artwork if time is not of the essence.
